Each theme pack is an exclusively produced 6-day experience that can also include a Teacher’s Support Pack, workshops for the co-creation of a music composition, and culminates in a collaborative performance that may also include members of our TCX team.
Programmes
The Future Is Nature
A genuine look at the world around us – the world as impacted by us. This concert is a musical collection from composers across the ages, from Vivaldi to Michael Nyman, who have portrayed the natural world in music.
Music For A Pantomime
A unique and refreshing juxtaposition that retains the classical roots found in both European and Asian cultures: Mozart’s ‘Music to a Pantomime’ performed by the classical Indian Dancers from The Temple of Fine Arts, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The concert also includes new and traditional Indian music written and arranged especially for orchestra with TFA musicians side by side.
Modern Times
With Charlie Chaplin’s 1942 silent classic, ‘Modern Times’ as a mirror of influence, this program includes exclusive material from international award-winning photographer, Nick Danziger. We will also take a serious look into the social and economic issues that affect the welfare and development of today’s children and youth.
Live For Dance
Ravel’s ‘Bolero’ – directed from the snare drum – is at the heart of a programme of modern and contemporary dance music dance including, ‘The Opening of the Stage’ by award winning Malaysian composer, Yii Kah Hoe together with solo dancer Lee Swee Keong, who will work with local dance groups, side by side in a concert to remember.
Man, Music & Machines
A high-octane race through repertoire that includes music as varied as Joseph Haydn, John Adams, Arther Honegger and Zoltan Kodaly; an event full of high energy, speed… and the occasional crash, bang wallop; including special guest star, Tom Oliver from the Pirelli National Superstock 600 Superbike class.
Expect some noise!!
The Sands Of Time & The Music Of ...
Join Scheherazade on a musical journey of discovery, as ancient melodies weave alongside contemporary counterpoint, in a symbolic tale of the Arabian Nights. Centuries will merge across cultures and styles, with exotic flavours for all artistic palettes.
Moving Pictures
We collaborate here with local schools who paint and present their interpretations of Mussorgsky’s, ‘Pictures at an Exhibition’ or Tan Dun: ‘Death and Fire: Dialogue with Paul Klee’. Then ‘we turn it up to eleven’ with music from a well known Canadian rock band, and special orchestrations from their album ‘Moving Pictures.’
The Singing Pirates
A Bounty of Song for Children aged 7 and up.
“Ahoy me young Scallywags, there’s work to be done, with a bounty a-waitin’ on islands of fun!
There’s treasure for all on this musical quest, so climb aboard – be our Captain’s next guest!”
Join swashbuckling scallywags, Ruth ‘Trendy Alena Smythe’ McCall, and Nicole ‘Puffy Shirt Lindsey’ Thomson, as they plunder the high seas for a treasure of songs, rhymes and poems.
Can they save the world from Kevin ‘Poop Deck’ Field and his orchestra of cutlass swinging rascals?!
It All Makes Sense - A.K. A. Don’t Try This At Home!
Smell it, taste it, touch it… you know the rest! This is a musical science lesson that looks at our senses in a series entitled The BIG 5. Audiences can expect to be the co-creators of a unique new work at every concert!
Reel-Time Composers
Film music of the day forms the backbone on which emerging filmmakers and composers from the region collaborate and present mutually inspired new works. Three composers are given the same short film and three filmmakers are given the same short piece of music from which to derive inspiration, comparison, and offer contrast.
We Can Sing (& Dance and Paint!) A Rainbow
Red Velvet Cake, Yellow Submarines, Green Martians… what else can you imagine in a rainbow world where everybody is singing, dancing and painting… without numbers!
The Final Frontier
All about space… and beyond! In conjunction with the Virtual Reality and emerging technology solution specialists at Spearhead Interactive from the UK, we work with emerging techies in your region to provide a backdrop of stunning images projected in 3D around the concert arena… and all presented with a selection of your favourite Sci-Fi movie themes.

Celebrate your particular festive season with these reimagined traditions with a twist and more than a shout of Fa La La La Laaa!
